REVIEW: Bollywood Jack

Bollywood Jack

It’s that time of year again! Panto season! And if you’re looking for a pantomime with a difference, get yourself down to Earlsfield in South London to the charmingly intimate Tara Theatre and enjoy Bollywood Jack…

An Indian take on panto classic Jack And The Beanstalk, Bollywood Jack tells the well known story of Jack – or in this case Zak (Sohmey Kapila), and his adventure with a magic beanstalk to steal gold from a giant (Deven Modha).

Laugh-out-loud funny and packed with current references and political digs, I found myself thinking that a panto of this quality deserved a larger performance space and a larger audience.

A strong cast delivered seemingly effortless performances with all the overacting and fun that’s associated with the traditional British pantomime.

It was a positively good way to spend an evening.

Bollywood Jack runs until January 7th at the Tara Theatre in Earlsfield.
